Who & How We Support

Cam Can’s success is anchored in trust, relationships, communication and an openness to dare to be different.  We strive to be creative in the supports we provide, whilst always ensuring funding parameters are respected.

Cam Can’s adventure started in 2011, with a view that if a difference could be made to just one person, it would all be worthwhile.

"If we can make a difference for just one person, it will be worthwhile."

Over a decade later, we have jointly achieved so much more.  We aim to build relationships with Members and their family to best understand what will work, and of course, won’t.  Ultimately, we strive to empower people to have greater flexibility and control over their resources, and in their lives.

Cam Can supports people with disability who receive Government funding, typically from the NDIS.  Cam Can supports over 400 people.  We take great pride in not providing a ‘one size fits all’ approach, and are very diligent to ensure each Member receives customised and individualised support.

Cam Can deliberately supports “one Member at a time” so as to ensure we stay true to building and providing exceptional supports for each Member.  We aim to find ‘a perfect match’ between a Member and their Support Worker.  Sometimes, this takes more time at the outset, but once achieved, supports tend to be far more enduring.  We are focussed on individualised planning, family, friends and community. We always aim to collectively imagine what a better life may look like, and work towards these goals and aspirations.

Be well informed

Cam Can supports people who have a confirmed / approved NDIS (or other) funding plan.  The NDIS enables people to choose three ways to manage their NDIS funding (which can include a mix of all three).   If you don’t have an NDIS plan, but would like to access supports, please discuss this with us.

If you are happy and would like to join Cam Can, a ‘Member Agreement’ between you and Cam Can will be developed.  The Member Agreement outlines supports provided, and rates charged.  Additional expenses (i.e. things not included in your NDIS/Government funding) are your responsibility.  Examples include entrance fees, event tickets and meals.  More information on Member Agreements is provided in our Welcome Pack.

Cam Can offers two options

NDIA Managed / Full Coordination

A dedicated Cam Can Coordinator will:

Be your main contact.

Help you plan how to use your funding to reach your goals.

Discuss which parts of your plan Cam Can will support (other providers can be involved too).

Manage your funding.

Find the right supports.

Explain the difference between a Cam Can Coordinator and an NDIS Support Coordinator (just ask if unsure).

Support Worker recruitment and management is done with you — your involvement and choice are key.
Cam Can handles financial and outcome reporting to the NDIS.

Self-Managed

Members can choose to ‘self-manage’ their funding.  This option gives you the flexibility and choice to decide what supports you buy to meet your goals. This comes with responsibilities, including:

Negotiating and purchasing supports you need

Managing your own funding

Claiming and paying for supports

Meeting ‘employer’ obligations

Meeting NDIS obligations.

People who self-manage their NDIS funding can contract Cam Can to provide some or all support services.  Cam Can will invoice you for supports, once they have been provided.
